Formerly the EDITION Istanbul, Levent Hotel is now operated by Hyatt Hotels. But unlike other Hyatts, this urban hotel is more posh and less business, contained within a series of dramatic design spaces like the domed lobby encrusted in gold leaf detail with native travertine stone floors and walls leading to a showstopper staircase that connects to the hotels mezzanine level. The lobby lounge bubbles with life-size aquarium on one side as well as direct access to a vibrant social infrastructure that includes lobby bar and nightclub. The hotel is located in upscale Levent, in the European side of the city, home to a menagerie of hotspot eateries and well-known western shopping malls that attract a more local clientele but require transportation to get to the city's historic attractions.
The Room
A modest size by Hyatt standards, Levent Hotel l is home to 78 rooms ranging from a generous 450-sqaure feet to lavish Deluxe Loft and Penthouse that size-in at over 2800-sq. ft. Rooms are defined by an evolved design aesthetic that puts a modern spin on Ottoman influence through a color palate of bronze and silver-gold colors and native mixed woods. Entry-level rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows with rosewood detailing and lavish wraparound lounge areas with 8-person sofa and writing desk. Open-flow bathrooms wrapped in clear glass will likely generate endless press about how privacy is limited in bathrooms areas, but a privacy curtain can hide anyone afraid of their own derriere.
